9/11 Memorial Parade Held In Fortuna On September 11th
The annual 9/11 Memorial Parade will be held on Sunday, September 11th at 12PM on Main Street in Fortuna. The entire community is encouraged to participate. Please bring an American flag to carry in the parade.
The parade will start at the City parking lot on “N” Street between 11th and 12th Streets. The route will go down 11th Street to Main Street, then along Main Street to the Veterans Memorial Building. There will be a ceremony to honor and remember those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
This event is sponsored by the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department, Fortuna Police Department and the City of Fortuna.

Fall Fashion Show to Benefit Families Advocating Autism Now
Fortuna Businesses Provides Fashions for the Fall Fashion Show to benefit Families Advocating Autism Now!
On Thursday, September 29th at 6:30 pm, there will be a fashion show held at the Scotia Inn. This is a benefit and fundraiser for the organization Families Advocating Autism Now with fashions by Fortuna’s Kidlicious Children’s Boutique and Glamorous Boutique. This event is $10 for adults, $5 for kid, and all proceeds will go to the organization.
Provided at the Fashion Show will be a raffle, gourmet pizzas, and a no host bar. This event is being sponsored by Fortuna’s Kidlicious Children’s Boutique, Glamorous Boutique, The UPS Store, and the Scotia Inn. Please come and support your locally owned businesses and organizations!

June 21st, 2011 - The Fortuna Business Improvement District is proud to announce the upcoming 2011 Seminar Series “The Cycle of Business Success”. The Series will offer a variety of guest speakers and panel discussions designed to take your business to the next level. Consisting of 6 bi-monthly seminars to be held at the Fortuna River Lodge, all free of charge.
The third seminar, "Human Resources/Fraud” will be held Tuesday, June 21st, 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Fortuna River Lodge Conference Center. This seminar will discuss how the right people and proper management have a huge impact on your success. We’ll go over strategies and incentives related to hiring and maintaining a productive work force and retaining top talent. We’ll outline common fraud schemes and internal controls that you can implement to help mitigate fraud risk.

Fortuna City Wide Yard Sale
June 4th, 2011 - The Fortuna Downtown Business Association will hold their Annual City Wide Yard Sale June 4, 2011 from 9am-2:30pm.
So if you’ve been thinking of having a yard sale this would be the event for you. Fortuna’s City Wide Yard Sale is open to the public and allows anyone to set up a yard sale on Fortuna’s Main Street for a small fee.
Hundreds of people will stroll and shop this all day event!

Fortuna Farmers Market
On May 10th, 2011 the Fortuna Farmer’s Market will open on 10th Street between Main & “L” Street from 3-6pm.
Fortuna’s Farmer’s Market is more than fresh produce! The first few weeks will feature nursery stock but as the season progresses so will the selection of locally grown/produced items. Most weeks market goers will enjoy a special festive atmosphere when live music, sponsored by local businesses, fills the air.
Fortuna’s Farmer’s Market is much more than just fresh cut flowers, nursery stock, beautiful potted flowing trees, fruits and vegetables.
Last year there were a lot of new things added to Fortuna's Farmer’s Market including Fortuna Raised Grass-Fed Beef. You could purchase it already barbequed to perfection or uncooked and packaged to prepare in your home. Fresh/Frozen Lamb, Fresh Chicken and Fresh Rabbit are some of the other meats you also find at Fortuna’s Farmers Market. Fresh Eggs and locally raised grains will also be sold each week.
In addition, crafter of all types will be showcasing their products—including a large selection of wool products, pottery, Humboldt Candles, and so much more. Fortuna’s Farmer’s Market hopes to welcome back the popular Loleta Bakery, which will be selling fresh breads and other delicious morsels, and Fortuna’s Taco Loco, which will also be on site selling their famous cooked tamales.
Fortuna Farmer’s Market will run May 10 through the end of October.

July 26, 2011 - The City of Fortuna is fortunate to have many locally owned businesses.
Glamorous Boutique changed ownership in January 2011. Becky Coloume and Nicole Foley are the new owners. Glamorous Boutique carries a wide selection of clothing for stylish for women sizes 0-16. Conveniently located in the Strongs Creek Plaza, Glamorous Boutique is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm.
Art and Wine in the Park
June 12th, 2011 - Art and Wine in the Park will be held Sunday June 12, 2011 from Noon until 5:00 p.m. at Rohner Park, Fortuna. (Take Main Street exit off Highway 101, to Park Street, turn left on Park)
Admittance is free. For those who would like to participate in wine tasting the cost is $20 per person (includes glass and 10 tickets). Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 per taste ticket.
Local wines will be featured from Riverbend Cellars, Robert Goodman, Elk Prairie, Curtis and David, Fieldbrook Winery, Coates, Old Growth Cellars, Winnett Vineyards, Dogwood Estates, Moonstone Crossing and Meridith Family Winery. There will also be wines from Napa Valley and elsewhere in California.
The Wine Tasting School will be back and bigger than ever. The Wine Tasting School will be provided by two of our local Humboldt county wineries. The class will be free with your purchase of a tasting glass so come early and sign up.
Dozens of Fine artist and artisans from Humboldt County and around Northern California will display and sell their fine art and locally made products.
Shop the Gourmet Market Place that will include locally made products; food, soaps, lotions, candles, baked goods, Chocolates, cosmetics, etc.
Delicious food will be provided by Humboldt Bay Oysters, Fortuna grown strawberries, Loleta Cheese, Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Deep Pit Barbecue.
Twango Macallan will take stage from 12pm -5pm and provide music free to event goers!

July 6th, 2011 – Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: UMPQ), hired Elan Puno as Mortgage Loan Officer for Umpqua’s Mortgage Division serving the areas of Fortuna and Garberville.
