Fortuna Gift Certificate "Fortuna Bucks"

A "citywide currency" that is good at any business in Fortuna. Employers, community groups and individuals give certificates in the place of cash or out-of-town gift certificates. Besides being a convenient gift, the certificates send a message that doing business in Fortuna is important to the buyer.

Mural Grant Program

Small grants to assist business and property owners in getting murals painted on their commercial buildings. FBID Board will begin giving two grants per fiscal year in 2005-06.

Goods and Services Guide

A classified guide to all licensed Fortuna businesses. The booklet groups businesses by major product, service or profession as well as secondary or tertiary emphasis.

FBID sponsored Seminars and Classes

FBID hosts or co-sponsors seminars with the goal of making businesses stronger and more able to challenge competition and stay in business. Recently FBID has teamed with SBDC on a retail marketing series and plans other classes with the partnership. FBID also runs Public relations and advertising seminars about once a year.

FBID Event Assistance

One of FBID’s first roles was the assistance of community events. FBID uses events as a way to leverage advertising and press coverage about Fortuna’s business community. FBID continues to offer grant funding to community events. As events mature, FBID gives community events logistics and public relations support after grant funds are phased out. Some events use FBID’s event liability insurance policy.

FBID Online

The business improvement district’s newly redesigned site does more to recruit potential businesses, provides a separate area for Fortuna businesses to stay informed and communicate with each other and speaks to the general public about Fortuna’s business community.
